Apple USA Set To Launch The Apple Catalog 

First mailing mid-October to over 1 million customers

CUPERTINO, California--September 17, 1992--Apple USA, a division of Apple
Computer, Inc., announced today it will begin direct mail order sales via
The Apple Catalog, a new catalog of Apple products, accessories, supplies,
peripherals and third-party products. The first mailing of The Apple
Catalog is scheduled for mid-October, 1992 to approximately 1.1 million
Apple users predominantly in the consumer and general business markets.
Updated versions of the catalog are scheduled to be mailed approximately
every 13 weeks.

The Apple Catalog will offer U.S. customers fast, easy access to Apple
accessories, supplies, merchandise, scanners, modems, non-network printers
and selected Apple Macintosh computer hardware products including the
Macintosh PowerBook 145. The initial catalog will also include
complementary third-party products from Claris, Aldus and Kensington. All
Apple products in the Apple Catalog will be listed at Apple's suggested
retail price.

"The Apple Catalog offers customers an additional level of fast, convenient
access to supplies, accessories, software and peripherals," said Bob
Puette, president of Apple USA. "Because some of these products can be
hard to find in the marketplace, many of our customers have requested mail
order for the convenience of being able to order product 24-hours a day,
seven days a week directly from Apple."

For customer convenience, Apple Catalog orders and catalog requests can be
placed through a toll-free catalog number (1-800-795-1000) which will be
accessible 24 hours per day, seven days a week. In addition to phone
orders, fax and mail orders will also be accepted. All catalog orders must
be pre-paid either by credit card or check.

In addition to 24-hour order taking, The Apple Catalog will also offer a
30-day money-back guarantee on all products returned within 30 days from
the day product is received. Apple's goal for product delivery is next-day
turnaround for orders taken by 12 midnight eastern time. Overnight freight
will be included at no extra charge for products weighing less than 20
pounds. Oversized items will be shipped via surface at no charge.

Customers ordering from The Apple Catalog will receive one-year toll-free
telephone support directly from Apple on all Apple hardware products, as
well as assistance with installation and set-up, configuration,
compatibility and basic product use. Standard Apple warranties will apply
on all Apple products purchased through the catalog. Telephone support
will be available for software products and third-party products from the
manufacturer.
