NEW PSI POWERMODEM III & POWERMODEM IV FOR APPLE'S NEW POWERBOOKS DELIVERS
FASTEST AVAILABLE FAX AND DATA SPEEDS

CAMPBELL, Calif., October 19, 1992 -- PSI Integration, Inc., a leading
supplier of fax/data modems for Apple Macintosh PowerBook computers,
announces shipment of PowerModem III and PowerModem IV, the fastest
internal fax modems available for Apple's new PowerBook 145,160, and 180
computers. PSI also announced shipment of its PowerModem II mid-range
model for all PowerBook computers.

PowerModem III sends and receives faxes and data at rates of 9,600 bits per
second (bps) and includes V.32. PowerModem III also offers the highest
standards in error correction and data compression including MNP10,
5,4,3,2, V.42 and V.42bis. With data compression, actual data throughput
of PowerModem III can reach speeds of up to 38,400 bps, making it ideal
for large file transfers and AppleTalk Remote Access users.

The PowerModem IV sends and receives faxes and data at rates of 14,400 bps
and includes V.17, V.32, and V.32bis. PowerModem IV features the latest
standards in error correction and data compression including MNP10,
5,4,3,2, V.42 and V.42bis. Utilizing data compression, the actual data
throughput of the PowerModem IV can reach speeds of up to 57,600 bps,
making it an ideal choice for AppleTalk Remote Access.

With today's announcement, PSI now offers four internal fax/data modems --
the PowerModem, PowerModem II, PowerModem III and PowerModem IV -- at
different prices and at varying speeds to match the widest range of
communication requirements of PowerBook users. All modems and software are
System 7.0 compatible, feature very low power consumption, and will work
with Apple's new PowerBook 145,160, and 180 as well as the original
PowerBook series.

"Different PowerBook users have different requirements for
telecommunications," said Bill Lauer, president and founder of PSI. "They
range from people who have only an occasional need to send or receive a
moderately sized file to those who regularly send and receive large files,
such as those that contain images or graphics. Our goal is to deliver
fax/data modem solutions across the spectrum of user needs."

All PowerModems include PSI's easy-to-use fax software that lets users
continue to work while the computer sends or receives faxes in the
background. The software automatically wakes up the PowerBook to receive a
fax, and then returns it to "sleep." The software can automatically
transmit a single fax to multiple locations, group faxes into a single
transmission, and delay fax transmissions to take advantage of lower phone
rates. Also included are multiple phonebooks, an activity log to keep
track of faxes, and a QuickFax desk accessory to send a note without
opening an application. All PowerModems also include a data communications
package, MicroPhone 1.7 from Software Ventures.

The PowerModem III has a suggested retail price of $445. PowerModem IV has
a suggested retail price of $595 and includes a Fax OCR package allowing
users to edit received faxes. The suggested retail prices of the
PowerModem II and PowerModem, both shipping now, are $295 and $195,
respectively.

Unlike other modems, the PSI fax/data modems are designed to conform to
international telecommunication standards around the world. This factor
has helped PSI achieve status as the world leader in fax/data modems for
the Apple PowerBook; the company estimates that about half of its sales
are international.

PSI's PowerModem and COMstation products are available through Ingram
Micro, MacAmerica, Falcon MicroSystems, Tech Data and PSI's network of
authorized dealers and international distributors.
