FutureVideo Brings A/B Roll Time Code Editing To Low-End VTRs

ALISO VIEJO, CALIFORNIA, USA, 1st APRIL 1993--FutureVideo revolutionizes
videotape editing with the industry's most accurate and affordable
computer-based A/B Roll edit control systems--specifically designed for
use with low-end industrial and consumer-grade VCRs & camcorders.

Dubbed the EditLink 3300 series, the 3 VTR control systems for NTSC or
PAL/SECAM applications support various combinations of VTRs fitted with
either a Panasonic 5-pin (including AG-1960, AG-1970, NV-FS88, FS200) or a
Sony Control-L/LANC terminal-- irrespective of tape format. EditLink 3300
series controllers may be used with Macintosh, Amiga, or IBM compatible
personal computers. Single-event A/B Roll software diskettes for each of
these computer platforms are included with the controller--FREE.

Housed in an attractive compact enclosure displaying constant system status
information, EditLink 3300 series controllers connect to the computer via
an RS-232C interface. Three independent programmable GPI triggers are
fitted to enable similarly-equipped switchers and SEGs (including the
Video Toaster, Panasonic WJ-MX50, or a WJ-MX12 with a retrofitted GPI
trigger) to be activated by the controller. Thanks to FutureVideo's
exclusive "multi-tasking" design, EditLink 3300 controllers are able to
remain in direct communication with all 3 VTRs--simultaneously--thereby
dramatically reducing the time required to perform an A/B Roll edit. By
simply not connecting the "B Source" VTR, EditLink 3300 series controllers
may also be used for straight "cuts-only" editing.

According to Stephen Godfrey, FutureVideo's Vice President of Marketing &
Sales, "End-users seeking to perform AJB Roll edits with 'prosumer'
equipment have attempted all manner of eccentric approaches, the results
of which have tended to be underwhelming in the extreme. With our new
EditLink 3300 controllers, precise 3 VTR control is a snap. Users may now
perform accurate, professional-grade A/B Roll edits--and stay within their
budgets. By late summer of this year, EditLink 3300 users will have
multiple-event A/B Roll software available to them as an upgrade for all
three computer platforms. Mr Godfrey concluded, "3rd party software
developers wishing to provide VTR control to their products will quickly
appreciate the 'developer friendliness' of EditLink 3300's advanced TCC
protocol."

FutureVideo's EditLink 3300 series presently comprises two models, both of
which read Sony's Hi8 RC Time Code (RCTC). EditLink 3300's Suggested USA
List Price is $1295. EditLink 3300/TC, listing at only $1795, also reads
SMPTE/EBU (LTC) time code from all three VTRs, yielding accuracy typically
within 1 frame.

FutureVideo has been an award-winning manufacturer of edit control systems
since 1986.
